Ingredients
2 to 3 tbs bacon drippings or butter
chopped onion or minced garlic to taste
ground beef or lamb, 1 to 2 lbs
canned tomatoes (28 oz)
tomato paste (1 can)
kidney beans (1 can)
salt
bay leaf
sugar, 1 tsp
red wine, 1/2 bottle
chili powder, whole 1.25 oz container or to taste
rice
cheese
Preparation
Saute onion/garlic in butter/drippings. Brown meat. Add remainder of ingredients, except rice and cheese, and simmer, covered, for at least an hour.
