Ingredients

2 tbsp. Butter, divided

2 tbsp. Olive oil, divided

1 small onion, sliced thin

2 lbs. cubed steak (4 patties)

1 tsp. garlic powder

1 tsp. onion powder

4 slices Swiss cheese

8 slices sourdough bread or buns

3 tbsp. Mayo

3 tbsp. Mustard

Preparation

  1. Coat grill rack with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat grill to medium- high.
  2. In a medium skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of the butter and 1 tablespoon of the oil over medium heat. Add onion; cook until soft and light golden brown, 5 to 8 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Brush steaks with remaining oil. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Grill one side of the steaks 5 minutes. Turn over and top with cheese. Grill 5 minutes more.
  4. Meanwhile, spread remaining butter on bread; toast bread on grill.
  5. Spread mayo and mustard evenly on toasted bread. Place onions and 1 steak on each of 4 toasted bread slices; top with remaining bread slices.
