Ingredients
4 ounces basmati rice
2 quarts milk
1 tablespoon ground cardamom
4 ounces golden raisins
2 tablespoons sliced almonds
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon rosewater, optional
Preparation
Wash the rice and let soak in clear water for 1/2 hour.
Bring the milk to a boil and add the rice. Stir gently until the mixture thickens a bit, then reduce heat. Add the ground cardamom, raisins and sugar, and the rose water, if used. Stir gently a few minutes until the mixture gets thick and creamy. The dessert may be served warm, or else chilled before serving.
