Ingredients

3/4 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

1 each egg

1/4 cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 cups oats

1 cup flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup raisins, optional, soak in hot water; drain

1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, optional

Preparation

If using raisins, soak raisins 20 minutes in hot water and drain. Preheat oven to 350*F.

Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combined dry ingredients; mix well.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350*F for 12-15 minutes.
