Ingredients

1 12-oz bag Fresh cranberries

2 cups fruity red wine (like Merlot)

1-1/4 cups brown sugar – packed

1 tablespoon grated orange peel

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

1/4 teaspoon ground clove

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in large saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.

Reduce heat to medium and cook unitl liquid is medium-thick syrup and sauce is reduced to 2-1/2 cups, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes.

Transfer sauce to a bowl. Refrigerate until cold, about 3 hours. Better after a couple of days. Can be made a week in advance.

Can be prepared 1 week ahead. Cover; keep refrigerated.
