Preparation

Making meatballs:

  1. Slice up ginger into small pieces or grind it. In a large bowl, add two spoons of rice wine and ginger to ground pork. Let it sit aside.
  2. Slice mushrooms into small chunks and cut leeks into small pieces. Add them to ground pork. I also put some shrimps in it.
  3. Magic time! Add 4 spoons of soy sauce, a pinch of salt, a generous amount of white pepper powder and two spoons of sesame oil. Combine them and mix well.
  4. Add egg. Mix meatball fillings till it turned out to have a gooey consistency.
  5. Now it’s time to make meatballs. Swirl fillings in your hand and try to make small meatballs.
  6. In a large pan, pour vegetable oil and start preheating.
  7. Cover meatballs in flour and fry them.
  8. Fry both sides and they will become golden brown. Turn heat to low or medium and cook for another 10 minutes.
  9. Once they’re all cooked, take them out and leave them on paper towels to observe excess oil. Making the soup:
  10. Cut tomatoes and lettuces.
  11. In a saucepan or pot, add some vegetable oil and saute tomatoes with some brown sugar till all the juice came out and they become caramelized. Now it’s the best time to pour some water and simmer the broth. Simmer it for five minutes and add in meatballs.
  12. Simmer for another 10 minutes. Finally add in lettuce and here you go.
