Ingredients
CAKE
1 cup Butter or margarine – slightly softened
2 cups sugar
5 each eggs
3 cups flour – Sifted with next 2 ingredients
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons grated orange peel
WHISKEY SAUCE
1/4 cup margarine
2/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup whiskey
Preparation
Grease and flour tube pan. Preheat oven to 350*F.
Cream butter or margarine until light and fluffy; gradually beat in sugar. Blend well. Beat in eggs one at a time.
Add sifted flour mixture to creamed butter/sugar alternately with OJ. Blend well. Add rind.
Pour into prepared pan and bake approximately 1 hour.
Meanwhile, combine whiskey mixture ingredients in small pan. Cook over medium heat until sugar is thoroughly blended.
Remove cake from oven and immediately punch holes in top of cake. Pour hot whiskey mixture over hot cake. Cool in pan.
