Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line two 12 cup muffin tins with paper cups or butter and flour two 9″ round cake pans. Cream butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla. In a medium bowl, sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine. Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with milk (beginning and ending with the flour). Mix just until combined.
